A Prayer for a Peaceful Transition

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,

What a week!

The presidential election cycle is an emotional rollercoaster for our nation. Whether the candidate you voted for was elected or not, we must remember these words from First Timothy,

First of all, then, I exhort that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

As we prepare for another inauguration, please join me in praying for a smooth transition of power.

O Lord, grant to our nation, our states, and all our communities, a peaceful transition of authority. Grant selflessness to all who lose an election, and humility to all who win. We thank You for the faithful service rendered by those who will leave office, and pray that You would continue to guard and govern us through those who now take office. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

God be with us and these United States of America.

In Christ Jesus,
Pastor Rogness
