Palm Sunday
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
Hosanna! Meaning, “Save us now!”
One tradition of Palm Sunday is having children sing, and that will be true this week as the Sunday School Choir sings the first stanza of “All Glory, Laud, and Honor.”
Another tradition is the use of the palm branch in the Divine Service. Some congregations gather outside their church building or in their Narthex, palms in hand, and process into the sanctuary. By processing, we physically and actively follow Jesus into the events of Holy Week and to His cross because we all need His redemption.
While we won’t have a procession of the entire congregation this Sunday, I hope you will take a palm branch as you enter the sanctuary. It’s okay; you have permission to have one! Then, take it home, fold it into a cross (instructions will be available), or place it behind a cross hanging on a wall within your home to remind you that Jesus entered Jerusalem that first Palm Sunday to save you.
And for that, let us sing, “All glory, laud, and honor to you, Redeemer, King!”
See you on Sunday,
Pastor Rogness
