Second Sunday after the Epiphany
Installation of Officers
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This Sunday in the Divine Service, we will install the church officers elected by the Voters Assembly in December. We thank these individuals for their willingness to serve the Lord’s Church.
And this passage from Romans comes to mind,
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. (Romans 12:3-8)
As our members are installed for continued service in Christ’s Church, it’s essential to remember this passage from Romans. God has given us differing gifts and created each of us uniquely, from one’s appearance to one’s personality to how each of these people will fulfill the offices to which they’ve been elected.
The one thing none of us can forget is that, as the Apostle Paul writes, “We are one body, with many members.” (Romans 12:4)
So, let us pray for one another in the coming year and use our talents and abilities to glorify God.
In Christ Jesus,
Pastor Rogness
